Dawn and Alison’s cancer battle✊

On 8/19/2020 Dawn and Alison
Crosby-Korzeniowski’s lives were
turned upside down when Dawn developed
severe pain while working her shift as a nurse at the hospital. Being the trooper she is, she
managed to make it 1/2 way thru her shift
before having to go down to the ER for
evaluation. After diagnostics were done she
was found to have a football sized mass on her ovary, and immediate referral was made for
her to see a Gynecologic Oncologist in Boston. Appointments came fast and furious, and by
8/25/20 she was inpatient at Beth Israel in
Boston for extensive abdominal surgery,
where unfortunately the mass was confirmed to be ovarian cancer. After a 5 day stay
she returned home to continue the battle with frontline chemotherapy.
Because of all this Dawn is out of work for at
least the next five or six months.
During the initial consultation with Dawn’s
Oncology team in September Alison, who
most of you know is also a nurse, was told that she would need to stay out of work due to the risk of her bringing home an illness such as
Covid-19, Influenza, or Norovirus, as that
would be devastating to Dawn’s compromised
immune system.

At this time Dawn is no longer receiving any
income, and Alison received her last paycheck in September. Unfortunately neither of them
are qualified to receive paid leave from their
jobs. The savings account is gone and they are both still waiting to see if they will
even qualify for unemployment. Luckily they
have managed to stay on top of their bills and expenses up until September, but now are in
need of help.

Alison and Dawn have always been willing to
help others in any ways they could, whether it be financially, physically or emotionally-
and both sacrificed so much this year when
they both worked as Covid nurses-especially Alison who worked long shifts in full gear on a dedicated Covid unit.lf there’s any amount you could spare it would be greatly appreciated-My moms didn’t even want to have to do a GoFundMe because they know alot of people are financially strapped
right now, but they truly are in need. And if
