Our baby Scarlett was born on 12/15/15 at 10:24pm. She stayed at the local hospital in their NICU because she was having a very hard
time breathing after she was
born. The nurses immediately admitted her into the NICU after getting her vitals , her oxygen saturation was low along with her sucking her chest and ribs when she gasped for breath. They put Scarlett on a c-pap machine to help her breath and gave her extra oxygen. At that time her breathing was 90 to 120 breaths per minutes which is very high, her oxygen saturation in her blood was ok and seemed to improve that day and the next but her body got tired from having to struggle so hard to get a breath . Her situation turned for the worse her stats dropped her body just could not maintain on her own anymore, her situation became immediately life threatening. She was transported to Kosair children's hospital in Louisville on 12/18/15 she was barely hanging on, the doctor came from Kosair with there staff and inserted a breathing tube and hooked her to a ventilator with medicine to relax her. Finally she was stable. She is currently at Kosair getting treatment for ( PPHN) Presistant Pulminary Hypertension of a Newborn. This is a life threatening condition. Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is a condition that affects the blood flow to an infant’s lungs at delivery . When an infant is born, the blood pressure in the lungs should drop and the circulation changes in order for the baby to breathe alone. However, PPHN causes an infant to revert back to fetal circulation, in which blood flow bypasses the lungs, preventing the baby from breathing. We are asking for prayers she definitely needs it. Any donation is more then appreciated. Thank you and thanks for hearing our story.
