Anyone who has met Lisa Turner knows just how selfless and loving she is to everyone she meets. Sadly, on the 21st of November 2022, and after almost 25 beautiful years of marriage, Lisa lost her husband Brad Turner. Their three children, Chloe, Baiden and Kaylee lost their Dad. Brad fought hard, but ultimately suffered a long and arduous battle with an aggressive case of bowel cancer.

The entire Turner family are much adored members of the community – so now it’s time for us to rally together, community near or far, and support the Turner’s through this difficult time.

At the young age of 47, Brad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. It had spread to his liver which meant a taxing surgery and intense chemotherapy. This process would continue for the rest of his time on earth, meaning they could never stray far from home or the hospital. As a result, Brad could no longer work.

Employed with the YMCA at Yarramundi, Lisa would run back and forth between hospital and doctor visits. Not only has she been a dedicated wife and mother during no doubt one of the most difficult times of her life, she has remained a dedicated part of her work family despite this. At work, she is known by all as ‘Camp Mumma’, and this couldn’t be more accurate of just how caring she is of her whole team. We can only hope that this will help give a little back to Lisa, someone who gives so much of herself.

It has been a hard slog amongst many covid lockdowns or closures due to floods. Feeding a family of 5, as well as a small farm’s worth of animals, on top of endless doctor and hospital fees is a lot to ask of anyone.

YMCA Yarramundi, family and friends hope to raise enough money to alleviate some of the pressure the family is facing due to medical bills and funeral costs.
