I have come to believe that admitting I need help is the only way to change my situation. Due to a series of situations beyond my control, I am in a place where I can no longer manage alone.

After moving back to San Francisco last fall for work, my financial setback began when a family member fraudulently drained my bank account, leaving me unable to make rent and other payments. I didn't lose my home, but I did lose my car and have been struggling. In April, I was in a hit-and-run accident where the car I had just purchased so I could do rideshare to make up for financial losses was totaled, and I suffered a concussion and other injuries.

Shortly after the car accident my mother passed away. The pain and stress from losing her, along with the physical injuries from the car accident, started affecting my ability to perform my full-time job that I moved for, and I had to leave. My plan was to continue doing rideshare and work assignments as a substitute teacher that would allow me the flexibility to focus on healing my mind and body.

Unfortunately, it took much longer than expected to have my teaching credentials approved. My landlord was very understanding throughout, but they can no longer allow me to float the past due rent.

Today I received notice that the back rent needs to be paid in full by this coming Friday, Nov 14, 2025. I have reached out to local rental assistance and haven't heard back. I assume they may be overwhelmed with helping families who've been affected by government shutdowns and other economic emergencies.

I am humbly asking for any assistance to get over this hump. If I cannot pay the back rent, I will be evicted, which will make the situation even more dire as I won't be able to get approved for a new apartment or have the resources to pay for temporary housing.
