Hello my name is Michelle Galindo, I am a mother of two beautiful children, Sebastian and Chloe, a wife and a woman living with Multiple Sclerosis. MS is a neurological disease that affects the nerve system, is unpredictable and interrupts the flow of information from between the brain and the body. Since my diagnosis in 2006, MS has quickly progressed and has greatly affected my life.
MS is a progressive and debilitating disease that has no cure. With this stem cell procedure I hope to slow down the progression and enjoy my two children like every mother should. Since my diagnosis my MRI’s show significant damage to my brain affecting my motor skills greatly. Some days are very bad and I cannot get out of bed, often times I cannot even walk a block. Last October the nerves in my eyes were permanently damaged and I have blurred vision. I can no longer drive, I now need a cane to walk, my hands have lost their strength and doing simple things like tying my daughter’s shoes, styling her hair or cooking for my family is extremely difficult.
HSCT is a procedure that involves transplanting a person’s own steam cells derived from bone marrow after the immune system has been depleted with chemo, in an attempt to “reboot” the immune system. These cell types have the potential to regenerate damage tissue.
Because of the fast progression of the disease, I am asking for your kind support in helping me fund a life changing treatment named Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation or HSCT.
HSCT is a procedure that involves transplanting a person’s own steam cells derived from bone marrow after the immune system has been depleted with chemo, in an attempt to “reboot” the immune system. These cell types have the potential to regenerate damage tissue.
My objective today is to receive funds to support the stem cell treatment that will greatly enrich my life. The steam cell treatment is costly and not covered by my insurance. I hope to successfully receive this treatment soon with your help!
