The family of Sheridan Student Nikolas Johnson is asking for your help.
Nik is a 16-year old student at Sheridan High School, and he is extremely ill with the bacteria commonly known as C. Diff. C. Diff is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from severe intestinal sickness, to life-threatening inflammation of the colon. Nik was first diagnosed with C. Diff in July, and has been ill since, unable to attend school or participate in any school activities.
In November, a Gastroenterologist from Casper was called in, and after running tests on Nik, he discovered the complications resulting from the illness include a hiatal hernia with severe acid reflux and resulting Barret's Esophagus, which is a pre-cancerous  condition. Nik also has at least one fistula from the C. Diff, and the doctor is also very concerned that he may have Crohn's Disease. The hernia and fistula(s) will require surgery, so it is unlikely he will be able to return to school for some time as the treatment is quite lengthy.
The expenses so far have been overwhelming, and Nik has yet to be well enough to be treated by the surgeon to correct the hernia and fistula(s.) Many of the medications, the numerous out-of-town trips to the doctor, and time lost at work has resulted in Nikolas's family struggling to pay his medical bills, with more to come in the future.
