Sophia was admitted to hospital last Friday with acute renal failure. This was not an ongoing problem for her, so when she was admitted it came as such a huge shock to her family. Sophia has had to start dialysis treatments on a daily basis. They began running tests and did a biopsy on her kidney. Unfortunately to find out that this beautiful young lady will need a kidney transplant.
A KIDNEY TRANSPLANT... Words no parent ever wants to hear their child needs. Sophia will start testing in the weeks to come for a donor match. A live donor with 100% match will be best but not absolutely necessary.
After doing some research I found that the average kidney transplant is approximately $265,000. This cost does not include the ongoing medical bills that Sophia will incur or the income that will be lost due to Abbie not being able to work to help take care of this amazing girl.
