In loving memory of Tony Ray Sanchez.  

SANTA FE– Mr. Tony Ray Sanchez passed from this life Thursday morning, September 17, 2015 in Webster.

Born May 23, 1931 in Galveston, TX, Mr. Sanchez had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County. Tony proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine before beginning his career as a farrier and opening up Tony Sanchez Horseshoeing, he also worked for George Kovacevich Bakery and Falstaff Brewery in Galveston.  He was a survivor of the Texas City explosion of 1947, was a lifetime member of The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and worked as the official Farrier there since 1970, proudly serving the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for over 45 years.  Tony was an avid sports fan especially football, the Dallas Cowboys being his favorite team, he also enjoyed watching rodeos, especially bull riding and bareback riding. 

Survivors include his loving wife of over 44 years Gloria Jean Nunez Sanchez,  sons, Chris Sanchez of Galveston, Tommy Lee Sanchez of Alvin; daughters, Vickie Minter of Magnolia, Nora Kapche and husband, Jeff of Katy; brothers. Andrew Sanchez of LaMarque, Willie Sanchez and wife, Lea of Vaccaville, CA; sisters, Angelina Molina of Galveston, Mary Galvan of Texas City; grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Tiffany Minter, Brittany Minter, Tahnee Sanchez, Falynn Davenport, Kaylee Kapche, Karlianna Kapche; great-grandchildren, Jeauxleigh, Carlie, Catie and Jake.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home. 

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) [phone redacted], with a vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Deacon Joe Kelly followed by a Rosary led by Don LeCompte.
