Tim Jones died in a tragic accident In April 2019 while competing in the Devizes - Westminster Canoe Race. For so long we have wanted to do something in his memory and raise money for a charity close to his heart.
Andy, Julian, Ben, Paul, and Russell from Worcester Canoe Club joined by Andy’s friend Mark will be paddling 60 miles through the Great Glen from Fort William to Inverness.
We will set off on the 13th September in three canoes for what we hope will be four days following the Caledonian Canal and canoeing on three lochs including the mighty Loch Ness. On the way we have two nights camping out in the Highlands, and a restorative night in Fort Augustus, while we hope for kind Scottish weather and that the midges are holidaying somewhere else in Scotland.
This adventure was actually chosen by Tim.
In our many paddling days he talked of numerous exciting trips we should do. This was the one that consistently resonated with all of us.
It will be a tribute to a lovely man forever missed by his family and friends. Please help us mark it by raising money for Parkinson’s UK. Helping to achieve the breakthroughs needed for those suffering from this awful disease will be a special way to remember Tim.
Finally, we will proudly be wearing a kingfisher bird on our backs as the symbol adopted to remember Tim. He was always the one to spot them on the water and was so delighted when he did
Andy, Ben, Julian, Mark, Paul and Russell.
