VZTS20: Fundraiser - Black Girls Code
The Virtual Zendesk Tech Summit 2020 is underway!
The past few months have heightened our awareness of the discrimination, systemic barriers and socioeconomic inequities that exist in our communities, and we know the tech industry is no different. We wanted to take the opportunity during the Tech Summit to pay it forward and do some good. We want to shine a light on 3 very worthy causes, with a Tech Summit 2020 Fundraiser. We have worked with our Social Impact team to identify a non-profit in each of the 3 regions where we have Product Development teams.
Here we are fundraising for AMER: Black Girl Code The mission of Black Girls Code is to increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color ages 7 to 17 to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology. Black Girls Code introduces underprivileged girls to basic programming skills in languages like Scratch and Ruby on Rails. Black Girls CODE has 7 established institutions and has operated in 7 states in the U.S. as well as Johannesburg, South Africa. They have reached over 3,000 students, and plan to expand to 8 more cities in the United States.
This Gofundme link is currently live and will be open until Tuesday, June 23rd (5 pm PST) when we will be celebrating International Women in Engineering Day. We encourage you to contribute what you can!
Thanks, Søren
