Hello,
It has been one year now since we have started this campaign to help Zoey and the help we have received has been amazing! She has been starting to express herself through words, which has been no small feat.
We just checked in with the Ontario Autism Program and found out we are still around number 50,000 on the wait list. With only 8000 being added every year, we still have many years left before we see any funding.
A brief background, therapies required cost approximately $50,000 to $70,000/year. Covering these costs in the meantime is something that most families can't afford.
Zoey is currently placed on nutritional supplements as her Autism is preventing her from eating a balanced meal. She requires occupational therapy to eat and to overcome sensory issues related to food. She requires speech therapy to learn to communicate her needs and to learn social skills. Zoey requires aba therapy to teach her how to handle stimuli around her. She currently stims (flapping her hands while her mouth hangs open) whenever she is overwhelmed.
Zoey has a long road ahead of her to learn the necessary life skills that come so naturally to most. As early intervention is stressed as the best outcome for Zoey to be fully functioning, we are unwilling to wait two years to start her journey.
This little girl has so much light within her and the happiest personality. We know she will succeed with the right help.
With humility we ask for any assistance you may be able to give, Even if it is just a share of this link. You will be instrumental in helping this little girl maintain her current self while progressing continuously to be exactly whom she is capable of being. She is Perfectly Zoey.
