hi!
i'm kenzie, and i need fall housing ASAP, with less than a month before i have to move from my current sublet!
in a pinch, i am and have been willing to take month to month subletting, but this semester i will be working 30 hours a week, taking 15 units, and applying to transfer schools, so little time or energy will be left over for constantly hunting for housing and moving during the school year.
as a result, i am making an effort to land a more permanent housing situation now before school starts. finding a place is hard enough, but on top of that, most stable housing requires a sizable deposit. i am working and putting myself through school, so i don't have that kind of cash handy!
that's where you come in! most places require a security deposit equal to one month's rent in addition to first month's rent in order to secure the space. an average rent price for 1 person here is about $700, so i am asking for help with double that amount, since the next month will also be filled with expenses to the tune of school registration fees, books for classes, transfer application fees, and a new laptop, as mine is completely unusable.
as many of you may know, i have been supporting myself and paying my way through school for 4 years now, unable to obtain financial aid due to a very longstanding fight with a stubborn financial aid office over my dependency status, despite the fact that my father does not contribute to my education or living expenses whatsoever. i have finally found my passion and am working very hard toward my goal of transferring to uc berkeley within a year, and really need the opportunity to start this semester off right by finding a place i can call home.
