Hey Everyone!,

today I received the news that Dallas will be needing a Cranial Remoulding Orthosis (helmet) as soon as possible. I am reaching out to my community to ask for support as this is an unexpected, expensive healthcare need.

While some baby’s heads will round out when they become more mobile, this is not the case for Dallas. The solution to this very treatable problem is the use of a Cranial Remolding Orthosis (helmet) to reshape his skull and realign the ears. Without this helmet, he could go through life with chronic conditions such as lockjaw, arthritis, ear infections, asymmetry of face and head, and issues with getting glasses that fit properly. These issues cannot be corrected after the age of two.

Unfortunately, these devices are not covered by OHIP and the full cost of these helmets is around $3000. As a result of this, many babies are going without helmets because families simply cannot afford them.
