Six months ago, I had the worst headache of my life. It continued to get worse to the point of temporally losing vision in my eye. When I went to the doctor, I was treated for a sinus infection, twice. Until I started, to get pain in my leg. After a few days of trying to tough through it, the pain got so severe that I could barely walk. In the emergency room, they did an ultra sound in my leg and found a blood clot and after I informed them of the constant headache, the doctor ordered a MRI. This is when they found a clot in my brain, I had a stroke when I lost vision and my brain was bleeding. I was put into the ICU and 3 days later I had a heart attack. I was rushed into heart surgery and the surgeons removed multiple blood clots. The next day I was informed that despite all of the blood thinners, my body was still creating more clots and they didn’t know why. They thought it was a rare reaction to the medicine in my IV .So I was air lifted to a teaching hospital in Portland where I would have a team of doctors. Well my first day there, I had another heart attack and was rushed into surgery again. It turns out that I was not having an allergic reaction to the medicine, I tested negative to every disease and cancer they could think of that would cause this. I later found out my body had thousands of clots. All of the doctors still do not have an answer to what caused all of this to happen. They called the event a thrombotic storm and I have just received a referral to be seen by the national specialist in thrombotic storm. He was the doctor to discover this rare condition in 1998. The only problem is that he works 3,000 miles away in North Carolina. The money I am hoping to raise would be to help pay for my medical bill I accrued during this time as well as make the trip out to see the specialist and hopefully get answers.  Thank god for  life, and the opportunity to be a father to my child another day.
