The Williams Family Needs Your Help

Hello, my name is Laura DeRosa, as a momma bear, I am reaching out to seek help for my grandson Matty and his family.

Matty is this sweet shark, alien loving, funny four-year-old, youngest of three. Recently, Matty has started chemotherapy for a tumor located in his cerebellum (brain). Approximately one year ago, Matty had a seizure. Doctors at first thought it was fever related. But, a few months later, it happened again. After, EEG and MRI, is when the tumor was discovered. Surgery was performed on October 13, 2023. Surgeon was able to remove most of the tumor, hoping not to disturb any more of the brain. The cerebellum is the brain region that coordinates voluntary movements, balance and posture. Also plays a role in some cognitive functions as language, attention and vision. Overall, things with Matty seemed to be going along pretty well. But pre-school teachers noticed his eyes crossing on occasion. Tina and Jesse were in contact with the Childrens Hospital, and they followed up with an MRI and it showed that the tumor was growing back. To avoid further surgery, chemotherapy, a low dose, was ordered. This is to shrink the tumor. He has had 6 treatments, with 52 more to go and so far, other than some nausea and minor vomiting, he's back to school. But because he has a port in his chest, no sports and fooling around as most 4 years love to do, he is killing it. Because of his love of sharks, he and I compare shark bites, his is on his head, scar from surgery and mine on my arm from surgery. I tell him the shark is going to eat up the tumor. The doctor did state that this type of tumor may need surgery again, possibly something that can go on a lifetime.

Tina has to take an unpaid leave of absence. While Jesse continues to work as EMT for ambulance company, volunteer for local EMS and finish up Paramedics class.

They are very humble people, raising three wonderful kids. Trying to do "normal". Before Matty became ill, their house was under some construction, now everything is on hold. They were doing most of the work, after insurance paid their share. So, needless to say, life for them has changed and they need a little help. So, if you're able to help them in any way please do.
