In 2001, I was diagnosed with SLE Lupus. It began with my legs giving out on me and I was eventually diagnosed after my mild stroke. Although I have good days, I also have bad days and recently I learned that my kidneys are operating at less than 6%, so not only do I need a kidney transplant , I've recently had a cathiter placed in my stomach so that I can begin my dialysis, for which I'll have to do do PD 4 times a day, which means my hours at work will only be 10-15 hours a week. I am currently on the registry in GA to receive a kidney, however, the wait list is longer than my life expectantcy so I need to venture out for more options. I have been given the go ahead to register for a kidney in Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida, however, I'll have to pay out of network premiums as well as hotel and travel costs in order to do this.
