Junie's Journey
Hello, we are the parents of Junie who is fighting a rare blood disorder that has no cure called Fanconi Anemia. It is a very complicated genetic disorder that causes bone marrow failure and DNA repair issues. Junie's bone marrow is failing and she is currently what they call transfusion dependent. She will need frequent transfusions at Denver Children's Hospital as her bone marrow (the part of our bodies responsible for blood production) is not producing enough red cells, white cells, or platelets. This is a band aid until Junie can receive a bone marrow transplant. Because we live in rural Wyoming (with our 8 children) we will need to travel to Denver several times a month for transfusions as they offer a blood product that is more suitable for a bone marrow transplant recipient with her diagnosis. Once Junie is ready for a transplant (likely this summer) one of us will need to live in Denver for 4-5 months.
We adopted Junie and our son Caius from the Ukraine and our family was in country finalizing the adoption when Russia bombed. We fled with the refugees into neighboring Moldova, Romania and finally Poland where we were granted their US Visas to bring our children home.
Junie has overcome so much in the last two years and we are thankful to have been chosen to be her parents. We are starting this GoFundMe to help cover costs of traveling to her specialist and the countless doctor bills that have already piled up. We are thankful to everyone who has already come along and blessed our family with meals, prayers and financial help. We know God has big plans for our Junie and she is a fighter.
