⚠️ Long Post Alert ⚠️

We have alot of people messaging & calling us asking us what happened with JJ, so I decided to make a post with his story.

Wednesday, December 13th I took JJ to Low Country urgent care in Marion because he had been extremely fussy for the past few days. He had been tugging at his ear & had some mild bloating & constipation. We got to urgent care & the PA took one look at his stomach & told me to take him straight to McLeod ER. I picked his dad up from work & we went straight there. They examined him, ran a few labs, & did an x-ray. He had an ear infection, strep throat & the x-ray showed that he had an enlarged liver. Dr Bostick referred us to a Pediatric GI specialist in Columbia. Friday, December 15 I was able to get in contact with the specialist & they were able to get us in Monday, December 18th. We went to that appointment, he was examined & admitted straight into the hospital. After being admitted there was an ultrasound ordered on his abdominal area. Ultrasound showed a large mass on his right kidney that was pushing up against his liver (which is what caused his liver to show & appear larger in the x-ray). After the ultrasound there was a CT scan ordered. The CT scan showed that he had a 13cm mass on his right kidney. Which was double the size of the kidney itself. The mass was multi chambered & had blood flow so it kept growing. That caused his stomach to swell & his blood pressure to rise. They did surgery Friday (December 22nd) & successfully removed the entire mass & his right kidney. What they removed weighed a total of 3 pounds & was about the size of a dodge ball. After they removed it they sent it out to pathology to determine if it was cancerous or not.

Now he is currently in ICU & resting. He is currently sedated & on a breathing tube for his protection & comfort due to the severity of the surgery, but we hope to remove that in the next day or two at the latest. We're hoping he's well enough to be off of it & smiling again by Christmas He has also been running a fever, but they say that is to be expected with a surgery this major. He is doing well & hopefully on the long road to a full recovery. Thank you God for keeping your hands on my baby, I just pray you continue to do so

Today we received the results of biopsy and he has a rare form of cancer called Wilms.
This will be a long road to recovery and the bills at home continue along with the expense of being out of town. Any help is appreciated. Please keep them in your prayers!
