Caden's Gender Affirming Surgery

Donation protected
Hello!

I’m Caden, and I’m a queer, transmasculine non-binary person living in Hamilton. I am just shy of 24 years old, my pronouns are they/them, and if you’re here even just reading this, thank you!

I am asking for help to fund my gender affirming top surgery, otherwise called a double incision mastectomy. In simple terms, I am getting my boobs removed to have a flat chest.

I love my trans and non-binary identity so much. Changing my name, pronouns, and the way I express myself has been so incredibly affirming to me, and brought me so much comfort and joy, but it has also intensified the dysphoria I feel about my body. Gender dysphoria is distress that occurs when someone’s gender identity does not match the sex they were assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics. For me, when I look in the mirror there is a complete disconnect between who I know I am and the body I see reflected back at me. It’s like someone copy and pasted boobs onto my body by accident. I have been binding my chest for some time now, which helps to some degree, but is also quite painful and still doesn’t allow me to fully express myself and live my daily life comfortably.

Having top surgery is something that I’m really excited about, but I also know that having surgery doesn’t make me any more or less trans than I already am. To me, having a flat chest isn’t just about being able to be topless at the beach and perceived as masculine (although I’m excited about that too!), in my happiest of non-binary dreams I get to wear a silky, almost see through top with a plunging neckline and there’s no boobs there. Having top surgery is about being able to embrace my entire non-binary self which includes both masculinity and femininity, just no boobs. Anyway, you probably get the idea by now...no boobs :)

My goal is to have top surgery at The McLean Clinic in Mississauga, Ontario with Dr. Hugh McLean. He has over 20 years of experience in top surgery and an excellent reputation. The total cost of top surgery with Dr. McLean is $8900+tax which includes all pre and post-op appointments and care, as well as the actual surgery. I have set my fundraising goal to $8000. I will be trying to save some of my own money for the surgery and given the times we’re living in, I know everyone is struggling, whether it be financially or otherwise. If you are able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and if you can only share or even if you’ve just taken the time to read this, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Lots of love,

Caden

LOL I couldn't resist ^
