Kevin was discharged from MDA to rehab on yesterday. He is a strong man, but there are many days that he is weak. Pray for him as he continues this fight daily. Pray for strength, courage and grace. Pray that the trail drug Tagrisso is healing to his body. We continue to praise and thank God for all the good and great things.
He gave a smile to beautiful Dr. Walton. He gave a wink to my nieces. The sweet pucker he gave to me when I kissed him on his forehead melted me into pieces. I am so very grateful for it all.
I love each and everyone of you! Thanks for all your encouraging text messages. Your Venmo, Cash App and Go Fund me blessings. Your meals, waters, gatorades and snacks fuels us daily. Your prayers means the world to us!!! We appreciate it all!!! am so sorry that I dont update here like I should. I know that so many people love Kevin and care so much for our family.
Kevin started a new chemo drug yesterday and we are praying for all good things. We’ve moved to a rehab for now. My goal is to get him back to the comfort of our home.
I don’t ever want anyone to think that we are not grateful for the love and support that we get daily from our family, friends, community and loved ones. This is so very hard. Life changed for us overnight.
Please know that we are not shuttingng any of you out. I most times dont have the words to say, and don’t want to cry my eyes out to every friend and relative.
Please keep praying for us. With all of our love!
The KaysUpdate- Kevin had his procedure done today. He tolerared it well. He does have some active bleeding in one of his lungs. The doctor cleaned up the area and took a biopsy to see exactly what is causing the bleeding. He suspects it is the cancer but will not have a definite diagnosis until the results are back. Please keep praying for his healing.
Quick update: We are still at MH Southwest. Kevin is back on antibiotics and still fighting infection. We are so thankful for all the support that’s been shown from our community. Your love doesn’t go unnoticed. Grateful for all of you!
I keep reminding myself that progress is not always a straight line.
We hit a bump in the road on the transfer to MDA, but we are prayerful it will still happen. Grateful I get to love and care for Kevin in ways I’ve never known before.
I hate feet, but have found joy in giving him pedicures. I’ve never cut his hair, but realized his scalp is just as beautiful and soft as his silver thick layers. I dont like broken rest, but love to assist in his care when his nurses come in to care for him . I’ve cried a lot, and I’ve learned a lot these last 56 days of him being in the hospital. He’s been my strong covering all these years….now I get to be his. Continued prayers for our Kevin!
New Update: I just spoke with the infectious disease Dr and he came in with the confirmed results of the culture that was taken. He said it is staph but because it was caught early, the antibiotics that they started him on a couple of days ago has already begun working on killing that bacteria. They are going to do an EEG later today to make sure they are not missing anything else. He is in no distress and continuing to sleep….getting the rest I know his body needs. We appreciate all of your prayers. Please keep them coming.
Want to give an update on Kevin. He finished round 10 of radiation treatments on Wednesday.
They started physical therapy yesterday to help get him stronger. Radiation is hard on his body, so he sleeps most of the day.. He will be having a surgical procedure on Sunday for a peg tube to keep his nutrition where it needs to be. Please pray his surgery goes well and without any high risk events happening .
Will you also pray specifically for Karrington, Kennedy, Shelby and myself? Some days we are strong. Some days we grow weary and struggle. Pray for us to continue to be strong in this period of waiting. Pray for us to remember to cast all of our worries and cares upon Jesus when we become afraid. For us to trust God’s plan and his timing. For us to be patient. For us to draw closer to him as he draws closer to us. For vision, because it so hard to see in darkness.
Pray for our families and our friends, because this is heavy, and they love and care for him too.
Until next time, keep praying and loving your people well that’s around you. It carries them through their hard days.
With all of our love!We appreciate all the love through text messages, phone calls, voicemails, cards, letters to Kevin, love donations and meals. Your love and support helps keep us going.
This year holidays are different from years past, but we are making the most of it by loving each other in every moment. Kevin was moved from ICU around 4 am this morning to a different unit. He had radiation at 9:30 am and back in the room resting. His body is being put to the test, but he is a fighter. Please pray for his health, strength and God’s protection as he continues this fight.
Remember to love those around you a little harder while you have them. Watching lives change in the icu minute by minute is heavy. Don’t take anything for granted. I love y’all!
Just wanted to update everyone on our Kevin. Most of you know that Kevin had a rapid onset of what was being called a mystery illness. He was admitted into the hospital the day before Thanksgiving, where he is still in ICU today. After being admitted into 3 different hospitals, we finally got a diagnosis in which he absolutely had ZERO symptoms. Kevin is currently getting chemo and radiation treatments for the cancer diagnosis. Please continue to pray for God to be with him, his girls and our family and friends. We need God’s healing power. We are so grateful to those of you who are walking alongside us on this journey. We see and appreciate your meals, donations to the gofund me/Venmo, door dash gift cards and donations for meals and parking at Texas Medical Center several times a day.
We see your calls and text messages but not able answer or return most. Your love for us doesn’t go unnoticed. It means everything. We are working hard to get him better, stronger and back to the things he loves.
My siblings organized prayer times for our family of 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm, 11pm, 3am….that way prayers are being prayed every 4 hours like medicine is usually given. You can pick one prayer time daily, multiple times daily or every single time or any time. We are so grateful for them all. Will you please continue to pray?
With all of our love!
The Kays
As most of you know Kevin Kays has been battling a mystery illness for the past 5 weeks.
On November 22nd 2023 he was admitted to hospital and has had numerous MRIs, CT Scans, X-rays, bloods test and biopsies taken.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help our precious Kays family at this time. First and foremost is prayers for Kevin to get well but
with increasing medical bills beginning to flood in this is where you can help if you feel lead to.
Kevin, Sharon and family are active members of our community and are always first to step up and love on everyone.
Let’s show them some love in their time of need.
Thank you so much
