In Need of Help

Many longtime residents of Capitol Hill and Eastern High School alumni have either seen or been the recipient of the creative works of Sir Rodney Ford. For 50 plus years, our friend Sir has graced our community with his artwork for the home, beautifully tailored apparel, landscape design for Capitol Hill neighbors and hundreds of self designed and sewn pieces, ranging from prom dresses for graduating Eastern High School students to tailored suits for the workplace.

After many years of sharing his talents and creative genius with neighbors, friends and Eastern alumni, our friend and neighbor, Sir Rodney Ford is in desperate need of a helping hand right now. Rodney’s tailoring and design small business never recovered from the pandemic, as current and potential clients still have not fully returned to the workplace nor do they have the same prepandemic needs for his services. Further, Rodney has suffered prolonged hospitalization in recent months due to undiagnosed pneumonia. Adding to his troubles, Rodney experienced several unsuccessful car theft attempts and vandalism last year, culminating with an actual car theft just last month—all in front of his Capitol Hill residence. Most urgent, Rodney is now facing IMMEDIATE EVICTION from his rented Capitol Hill home of 30 plus years due to his economic hardships as well as the future sale of the property by the owner.

Sir Rodney has a deep and abiding faith that has sustained him throughout these challenges. He is reaching out to everyone he’s has had the privilege of knowing over the years, Eastern High classmates, neighbors, clients and friends to support this GOFUNDME request to prevent his eviction and possible homelessness during this difficult time. ANY AMOUNT will help at this point and is appreciated. Rodney has made every effort to avoid these circumstances with dignity, however his needs are urgent and extremely dire.
