My mission to Albania (Children's Home for Hope)

This May I graduate from High School and in June I will travel to Albania to participate in a mission through OCMC (Orthodox Christian Mission Center.) I have always loved the mission field and am excited to put my faith into action. After an extensive training at the OCMC in St. Augustine, Florida, we will fly to Tirana to work with children of the Children's Home of Hope.
The Children's Home opened in 2003 and offers a loving, home model for children who have troubled home situations. It is open to children that may be orphaned, come from single parent families, or families experiencing some type of hardship. These children come from particularly difficult backgrounds and I am so happy to offer the love of the Gospel to them.
Some background on Orthodoxy in Albania: After five centuries of Ottoman presence and five decades of communist rule, Albania suffered the most severe religious persecution in the world. All forms of religion were constitutionally prohibited; most churches and monasteries had been destroyed, no Church infrastructure existed, and only a few clergy remained. Today, under the guidance of Archbishop ANASTASIOS of Tirana and All Albania, along with the help of Orthodox missionaries and dedicated Albanian leaders the Church has been resurrected and continues to flourish.
I am overjoyed with the opportunity to participate in this trip. I am fundraising for my airfare, supplies and necessary items for the home. Any additional monies raised will benefit OCMC and the Home.
