Support Ava's Legal Battle in Thailand
Donation protected
Update: 25 August 2025
Thank you again for the incredible outpouring of support you have shown to Micah and Ava as their battle continues.
With thanks to our community of listeners from around the world, we have now raised enough funds to cover Ava's legal fees. Her next court hearing will be in late September, but we have been informed that the appeals process can take years. We plan to update this page after the September hearing with more concrete information from her lawyers.
At this point, any further gifts will go to support Micah and Ava as they continue to wait on a final decision by the courts. In the meantime, Ava would like to share this message with you:
"I really thank everyone for their sincerity and support. I am really glad that everyone believes in me. Thank you all so much."
Update: 1 August 2025
Our deepest thanks for your generous donations in support of Ava's ongoing legal battle in Thailand. We are in awe that 70+ individuals (including two amazing children who sent their pocket money) from around the world have helped us surpass our goal. What a powerful show of support to Micah and Ava.
Since the court hearing on June 26th, our team was able to secure a new lawyer for Ava, who is now working closely with her on the appeals process. As Ava's case progresses through the legal system yet again, we will continue to keep the page updated.
____________
Thank you to our global community of listeners who took the time to listen to Micah and Ava's story on The Fight of My Life: Escaping Scam City. We have been overwhelmed by the level of care and support you have shown for both Micah and Ava, and your well-wishes for Ava as she continued to fight her legal case in Thailand. Unfortunately, at her final hearing in Bangkok on June 26, 2025, Ava did not receive the good news we had all hoped for — instead of classifying her as a victim of human trafficking, the court found her guilty of scamming. You can hear what happened in the Epilogue (Spotify page link here).
The producers and friends behind this podcast - representing both Cadence Productions and Unheard - are spearheading an effort to raise funds for a new lawyer (who was recently confirmed) for Ava and to cover the cost of her bail while she files her appeal. We anticipate the cost of both the bail and appeal to be US$5,000. Any additional funds raised will cover the costs of Micah and Ava's transport to future court hearings as well as basic living costs, as Ava is supporting young children but is not permitted to work while her legal case drags on.
As we mentioned in the Epilogue, this podcast is not only about Micah and Ava’s fight, but also the fight of those who choose to stand with them. Thank you for stepping into this with us - we are very grateful for each one of you.
