Save Buster's Life!
Buster needs your help!
On Monday March 11th we took our dog Buster to the vet for diarrhea, nausea, lethargy, and lack of appetite. We suspected he had a recurrence with lymes, as he was diagnosed and treated in 2021 & symptoms were similar. The vet looked him over, checked his stool and sent us home with probiotics.
His symptoms were only getting worse, so we returned to the vet on Thursday March 14th, and feeling pretty certain about the Lymes, asked for a test be done to check his blood levels of the lymes antibody, but results take a week to come in. He was sent home with antibiotics (Doxycycline) and Gabapentin for pain.
By Friday afternoon we saw his symptoms worsening, and knew that normally the antibiotics are like a miracle; we should've seen improvement by then. Friday evening we took him to an emergency veterinarian. She felt it was a bowel blockage, but x-rays would be necessary to confirm or deny, and were $650 there, and $6-10,000 for the surgery. We chose to have him given "supportive care," which is fluids for dehydration, and injections for nausea, and pain, with the plan to return to a regular (less expensive) vet ASAP for x-rays and possible treatment.
We love our dog so very much. He's been a part of our family for 6 years, and I can't bear the thought of losing him, especially if money could've saved his life. Anything that you can contribute will be greatly appreciated, and will go directly to Buster's care. Please share and keep us in your prayers! Thank you!
