Gail Burdulis Carpenter passed away unexpectedly of a cardiac event on Valentines day leaving a hole in our soul that will never be filled. She was a loving mother to not only her 4 children and 2 step children but also to the many kids that grew up with us. Our mother was a women who never said no when someone needed a place to stay or a meal to eat. Growing up, our house was always open to everyone. Holidays at our home always included extra people who didn't have family or a place to go. There was always room at her table. As we grew older that became the case with our friends. Our mother would get home from a long day of work and yell up the stairs to us to ask how many people were staying for dinner.. Somehow she would magically pull together a meal for all the hungry people in our home. After our father passed our mother worked her butt off to maintain our home and our life. While we may not have had what we wanted she always managed to give us what we needed. She was like a super hero. She worked so many hours and came home to a house full of kids, she never complained or said she couldn't do it. She always gave everything she had so that the rest of us could survive. Around this time she met John, the man that stepped in to be a father to us kids (not an easy task) and became her love for the rest of her life.. Eventually they were able to relocate to Florida where she lived out the rest of her days. She was in heaven there. Our mother was a seeker of sunshine. She hated the cold weather. And though most of her kids still lived in the cold north, she was happy to be in the sunshine with her youngest son living in Florida just a couple hours away. Eventually we all grew up and the grandbaby's came. I truly believe her happiest times in her life were being a grandmother. Mom and John lived a quiet simple life in the sunshine. That's all she ever wanted.. she never would have wanted anyone to be crippled by her passing whether emotionally or financially. She was a women who never asked for anything. Death shouldn't cost you everything you worked for in life. We are looking for a little financial help to cover the end of life cost so the burden does not have to way to heavy on the family. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered help. We appreciate the incredible outpour of love we have received during this heartbreaking time.
