We are raising funds to support a mother in our community after an unimaginable tragedy took the lives of Obaid Noorzai and his young daughter Gabeen.
Obaid and Gabeen were from Afghanistan. Gabeen’s name means “honey” in Pashto — a beautiful meaning for a child whose presence was gentle and bright. Obaid served as an interpreter with U.S. forces in Afghanistan, and after years of sacrifice and hardship, he arrived in the United States in 2023 to build a safer life for his family.
Tragically, that life was taken from them far too soon.
Right now, Obaid’s wife — Gabeen’s mother — is left grieving the loss of her husband and her child. On top of the emotional devastation, she is facing immediate, real-world burdens that no one can prepare for: funeral and memorial expenses, urgent living needs, and the many unexpected costs that follow a sudden tragedy.
This fundraiser is being organized by friends of the family to help support her directly. Every donation will go toward supporting the surviving wife/mother, including:
Funeral and memorial expenses for Obaid and Gabeen
Immediate family support and essential living needs
Temporary housing and basic replacements after the fire
Transportation, time off work, and urgent expenses as needs arise
If you are able to donate, thank you. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser is also a meaningful form of support. Please keep this family in your prayers.
We appreciate your compassion and kindness during this heartbreaking time.
Thanks,
Friends & Family
