Donation protected
Our name is Ralph and Dorothy, we are asking for help with our canine, Bruno. He is 6 years old, and up until the other day he was handicapped but ok. All of a sudden in less than a day, his health started to turn bad, and now he is fighting for his life.
History -
Way back in 2016, i started to looking at adoption sites for canines, someone that would need a good home, be part of our family, and a brother to another canine. I was looking on social media and kept going to one website over and over again. A canine named Averick continued to come up again and again. He had multiple problems, couldn't walk right, possible neurological issues, pneumonia, been thrown to the streets in another state, walking when he could on his knub=ckles, could run or get up stairs. Each time I looked it was hard to go off his page, but I couldn't get involved with him because I had taken care of so many canines that had major issues. Broke my heart everytime, I had just so much I could handle, I always came back until that fateful day I saw something new added, that he would be euthanized if someone did not adopt him. That's it I can't let him go, Hasn't had a chance to have a life. I went to my wife, and told her, the next day we went to the Veterinarian's hospital he was boarded at. When they brought him into the room, he slid in partly walking, sliding across the concrete floors and falling because he couldn't walk, this was a broken creature of God's, his eyes were dull, listless , coat dull, not even looking for someone to care for him because he never had anyone to know what it was like. My wife and I took him, he was carried in a stretcher to my van placed onto a bed, and my wife stayed with him until we got back to the house. So sad, and it was going to be hard, but you have to have faith and try.All my life I cared for others safety, put my life on the line, and now its time to do it all again, My wife and myself figured that he deserved a chance.Over time he was nursed back to health, my wife taught him he was going to be ok, taught him to enjoy his life, and my other canine, Rocky, he took him in like a long lost brother. Soon his first snow came, he played because he never saw it, ran as good as he could , fell down, picked himself up, and found out what life could be like. His name was now Bruno.
6 years forward -
The fateful day was never gonna come until May 3, 2022. On the morning of May 3, 2002, I went to bed late because I had to bring Bruno in as he wanted to go outside one last time. When I went to get him after he failed to come in, I found him outside lying down , trying to shelter his upper body under some pet agility steps we had to train him. He wouldn't get up, so I went to get his harness and couldn't find it as we had just moved, I wrapped his long leash into a harness and brought him in for the night, put him to bed, and stayed with him til early morning when I thought he was good. The Next day, May 4th, he was only a foot more from where I put him. I picked him up, all 125 lbs, and moved him to a bed close to our couch. I called my wife, as she was with her mom in another state visiting and said , " dear, I think we have a major problem with Bruno..." as the day progressed, my wife called and said she could get another flight home the next day. That's it I told my son and wife, we are going to Cornell, they were the best chance he has got, this is beyond most Vets in the area. I called in to their emergency , he's not eating, feels hot, not taking water, whining. call us when you're close.. Their personnel were there when we pulled to the door, everyone loaded him to their table, and he was rushed inside. 1 1/2 hrs later, the Doctor came out, said he would have to stay there for a bit. He has a fever of 106, not good, we have to check him out, give us your numbers, we will call you as soon as we know. The next day after rounds at the hospital, the doctor on duty called to tell me his status. He has diabetes, has a lung infection we figure is pneumonia, won't get up.,Low blood oxygen. Can I see him, my wife is coming in at 12 in Syracuse. Can you come around 4 then, he'll be in our ICU...
Now -
Today is May 11th, 2022 - The vet techs and doctors have been great, but he has issues. He has been diagnosed with diabetes, has pneumonia, is taking multiple antibiotics, won't get up, and won't eat. We are running all tests on him that we can, including liver biopsy for possible cancer, etc. But Bruno is sick, and we don't know if he will ever walk because it could be a neurological issue. We gotta get him back home. .My wife and I visit him every day, talk to him, rub his legs, and watch his eyes. Gotta get him home we don't want him to suffer, but we have faith that he will respond, and if not then we;; cross that bridge when it comes...
We need help with Bruno; he needs some longer-term medical work at this hospital. Anything you can do, prayers, money, whatever will help. Can you help us. He has to have a chance to live.
No matter what, thank you for your time, and we wish you the best..
