Clyde's Story...

For those of you who have been following the story of the two field dogs that were rescued by Pit Crew Sacramento Rescue after being abandoned in a desolate field and living there for over a year, you know what these two dogs, Bonnie & Clyde, have had to endure. We finally captured these dogs after a 10 hour long chase and took to a local animal hospital for care.
Both dogs were mere skeletons, covered in lacerations and open wounds, no doubt from fighting for a scrap of food to survive. Thanks to our generous supporters near and far, we were able to treat them both for their heartworm, geradia and have them stiched up. They have been with us for several months now and they have flourished from being terrified, untrusting beings, to social, loving, energetic pups!
When we took Clyde to have him neutered they noticed a severely irregular heartbeat. Clyde was diagnosed with a Stage 5 heart murmur and could not undergo anasthesia for his neuter, it simply would have killed him. With our generously donated funds, we were able to take him to a Cardiologist in order to determine exactly what kind of trouble our Casanova Clyde was really in for. The results were not good.... Clyde has Valvular Stenosis. According to the Cardiologist, "There is severe valvular pulmonic stenosis present with mild pulmonic valve insufficiency which has lead to mild to moderate RV hypertrophy and moderateRV dilation. The appearance of the valve is consistent with a good candidate for valvuloplasty. There is mild dysplasic change to the septal leaflet of the tricuspid valve with mild TR."
What does that all mean?

Our vet explained that he could drop dead at any second. He could literally be trotting along and playing with the other dogs (he gets along with EVERYONE, even though he is intact) and just drop dead!! We are heartbroken for this boy. Clyde is by far the most balanced, easy going, happy, affectionate, loving, goofy dog we have ever met. To top it all off, he is only about 13 months. This sweet innocent boy has his whole life ahead of him... we cannot let this be his end! He deserves so much more. Clyde loves everyone he meets: kids, dogs (big, small, young, old, male or female), literally EVERYONE. He is simply amazing and we absolutley adore him. He greets everyone with an abundance of kisses and a full-on hug! Yes, this boy will put his arms around your neck and rest his big old head on your shoulder just before he plants a big, sloppy wet kiss on you! Clyde is now known for his tons of free hugs! He does not descriminate, he loves EVERYONE!!!
While Clyde waits to have his surgery funded...
Clyde is currently taking Atenolol 25mg twice a day to slow down his heart rate. The good news is that he is a candidate for a Balloon Valuloplasty according to the Cariologists' report, "Advise balloon valuloplasty if funds are available as the patient does have favorable morphology for successful dilation. Recheck if the procedure is performed 2-3 months later with hopes for discontinueing atenolol or recheck in 1-2 years or as needed."

THERE IS HOPE FOR THIS SWEET BOY!
But brace yourselves... the cost of this operation is $4,000 and we need to raise the money to pay for his operation. We have to. He has shown us just what a sweet, incredible, loving soul he has and he will make an amazing family pet. With this operation, Clyde will live! After surgery, he can be neutered and then go on to live a long, healthy and happy life! But wait...
We can't help our lovable moose without your continued support. PLEASE share Clyde's donation drive on your social media accounts.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help us save Clyde.
He already loves you for it! Please like our page on facebook so you can stay updated on this handsome fella. He has stolen the hearts of everyone he meets so now let's help his heart continue to beat. We love you Clyde! We will do whatever we can and stop at nothing to give you the chance at life you deserve. Every penny counts, there are no contributions too big or too small.

Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts!
