Please help us raise money to help us save our little Nero. Normally we are the type of folks who wouldnt ask for help in matters such as these but our hosptial bill is stacking up each day he is in there due to major complications.
Here is his story:
Nero was born in the begining of Jan 2012. His mother had complicatitons while in labor. His sister, Attia , was the first born. His mother Cinnamon had a hard time pushing out the middle pup and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately that pup didnt make it and Nero was destine to follow his middle brother's fate. Being the runt of the litter, he began with all his little strength to fight for his life. He succeeded and was the victor of his destiny.
He and his sister have been adopted into a new home where he was loved with two other buddies named, Lucius and Titus
He and his sister found a wonderful family and made a pact to stay together forever. From bath time to Christmas they all enjoy the best of times.
But it also hasnt been all fun and games. On May 6th 2014, His grandmother and best friend passed away from stage 4 Breast and Bone Cancer. Now all four dogs participate in the semi- annual Paws for a Cause walk and Cancer Strides. Here is a picture of Nero with his Grandma on her lap.
Out of all the dogs, he suffered the biggest loss. He no longer could cuddle up to his favorite Pet Grandparent.
Now here is where the story gets a bit complex. Due to his nervous condition and being the runt of his litter he wasnt nutuered. We were too afraid his heart wouldnt be able to take the anesthesia. With that being said, now at the age barely 3, he had his first seziure on Sunday the 24th of May.
We were hoping he would recover from this seizure but shortly after we noticed there was blood in his stool and urine. He was taken to the nearest emergancy room for proper care. Being it was a Memorial Day holiday , the hospital felt inclined to charge more due to their minimal staffing.
After several day of intense critical care and tests, it turned he had an abscess and an infection in his prostate that had been poisoning his body . Due to his weakened state we were put in a position to where surgery could have possibly end his life.
All the vets told us he had very little chance to live. We decided to go ahead and try an extremely high risk procedure or as the vet put it a " Hail Mary". Being that we are football fans, we have seen games win on "Hail Mary's". This meant we would know we would most likley lose Nero.
A day before his procedure, his sister came to visit.
His hope began again....
Nero was taken into surgery. The poison was taken out of his prostate and was neutered. His little body fought all odds and stayed strong. He hasnt given up as the surgery was a success.
His current condition is still very weak. His vitals are low and isnt eating. The vet said he is on the road to recovery provided that he stays in an extra week so that they can stimulate his eating habits .
We ask for your help bring Nero home. We wont give up on him because as he didnt give up on us. This little guy has alot of hope and wants to go home soon. We have no expectations , no demands, anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.
