I'm Kathleen Dougan and as many of you know, my sister Kelley Dougan lost her battle to breast cancer 6 months ago. Since then it has been a struggle financially for her widow and mother Marsha Conn to raise her four children : Andje (12), Helena (12), Griffin (7) and Hanalee (5). Can you imagine such loss at such a young age? Well fast forward to a week ago when this horrible fire hit Lake County leaving so many people without homes. My sister's house was one of these. It is gone, nothing but ash and with no insurance on the home, it's next to impossible to fathom being able to get back on their feet. The family is heartbroken. So it's time to pick up the pieces and start anew. Before my sister passed away she told me she had two hopes for their future should she not make it: 1. That the 4 kids never be split up & 2. That I would be there to help her mom and Shorty to raise her kids. So after much thought, we are trying to get the family here, to me in Maui. One of Kelley's dear friends had set up a PayPal for the kids after her passing, but it will only release $500 a month. We are hoping to raise enough money to get the family of six moved here (I have already purchased their flights, but the rest of moving expenses) and get at least a first and last months rent taken care of.
