This is hard to type as its hard to share. My sweet niece London was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 3.
For those who have seen our posts about this little goose, or had the pleasure to meet her, you know she’s quite the comedian. Our family has traveled all over just to spend the night with her, her spirit is one of a kind. At the age of three she is already skating like a champ, goofing off in ballet class, and I’ll proclaim her as a professional berry picker (she only eats half on the way home I promise). So far in life she has lived a fun, carefree life and even with this new outlook, we want to keep it as worry free as possible.
While we want our spirited monster to be able to continue to have her freedom, one our biggest fear is her being away from us or sleeping at night and having an alarming high or low count. To help ease that fear we are hoping to adopt a diabetes service dog, to guide London through life.
Diabetes service dogs are highly trained animals that go through 6+ months of extensive training to detect londons scents whether her levels are high or low before they are dangerous. The dog will be able to sleep with Londy and go everywhere with her and will know by smell if something is off and will alert us.
This service animal will provide a sense of security and help protect London as she goes through out her day. Help is hard to ask for, but in this case we are willing to do anything to help this little cookie stay safe. We appreciate you taking your time to read this and anything helps. Please share this with friends and family. It’s appreciated more than you will ever know. I have dedicated this campaign to my beneficiary, kaitlyn Olson, my sister. She is the loving mother to my adorable niece :)
Thanks again, xoxo.
