Dad's memorial and burial expenses
Donation protected
As many of you know, our Dad, Charles "Chuck" Egbert passed away the morning of August 25, 2015. He was a very giving man that would give someone his last $20 if they asked for it. He had a heart of gold and loved his family more than anything. He was a military veteran from the Marines, was very active in multiple organizations in many different communities (including the American Legion, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Knights of Columbus to name a few), and was well respected and loved by everyone he met. He made everyone laugh and never passed judgement on anyone.
Dad left us after suffering from COPD, heart issues including stents and multiple other issues he dealt with. He is no longer suffering which we are all happy about. He also joined his wife (our Mother) Phyllis in heaven after 16 years being apart from each other.
Dad never had much in his life as far as material things, but he was always full of love for his family and friends. He left us to go to heaven with no life insurance policies or death benefits what so ever. As a family, we have been struggling to figure out what Dad would want at this point after his passing. His last wish is to be buried next to his wife in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Baraga) which is 8 hours from where he passed away near Lansing, MI. While he has lived down here for the last 11 years, his heart has always been in Baraga.
We will be having a memorial service for him in Mason, MI on Friday, August 28 then will be transporting him up to Baraga for his funeral and final resting place. The cost of this is way more than we ever dreamed it would be.
We are asking family, friends, and anyone who would like to please donate what you can to help us defer the costs of his final wishes.
Also, we are asking friends and family in lieu of flowers that you may want to send to the funeral homes to show your respects, please donate to this fund instead to show our Dad how many people's lives he has touched. We have flowers from the funeral home in Mason that we will be transporting to Baraga.
Thank you in advance for your help to our family in this time of need. We also appreciate all of the condolences that we receive every day during this difficult time. May you rest in peace Dad! We love you!
Sincerely,
Steve, Lenny, Kim and Tammy
