Bear’s New Hips
Our little Bear
We are absolutely devastated to be in this position and hate asking for help, but when it comes to giving Bear a quality of life we know we have to .
Some of you will of seen Bear’s story so far already. Paw Help rescued Bear along with his 9 siblings from horrific circumstances when they was just 3 weeks old and we’ve hand reared them ever since. Bear is now 19 weeks old and huge a whopping 30kg!! Bear was only meant to be a foster but we knew he couldn’t be re homed with his issues so we agreed he would stay in rescue and live with his foster mums till his health was stable. It’s absolutely devastating that Bear didn’t ask to be born and had he not of been bred by selfish people he wouldn’t have to face this awful condition
We noticed right from the day he came home Bear wasn’t as strong as his brother and wasn’t as steady on his legs but just thought he was developing slower, fast forward two weeks we notice Bear is really unsteady on his legs and after many vet trips we ended up going to a vet specialist on Christmas Eve, she put him on antibiotics for 10 days. Fast forward another two weeks he was no better, and as he was growing, he was actually getting worse. So back to the vets we went and we get the worst news our gorgeous little Bear is suspected to have hip dysplasia
After multiple vet visits, a trip to see a specialist, X-Rays and multiple other tests Bear has severe hip dysplasia it’s impacting his daily life and he is medicated every day to keep his pain at bay. Without surgery on his hips Bear’s mobility will deteriorate drastically and quickly, he will be in constant pain and will have absolutely no quality of life. We have three options for Bear, option A - surgery, option B - a life of pain, option C - let him go. At not even five months old option B and C we can’t even comprehend.
Thank you for reading, we know times are incredibly hard for everyone right now but we have to do all we can to help Bear ❤️
