My friend Brandon Fondell was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2017 and has spent the last 3 years battling it with all his might.
As a father of three beautiful girls and someone who loves serving others, Brandon has so much to live for. But, cancer treatment has caused nerve damage in his legs and is severely weakening his immune system, which causes additional health issues and makes it challenging to be with other people for fear of getting sick.
In fact, Brandon has had multiple near-death experiences, due to pneumonia and infections, and he has fought hopelessness, depression, and the fear of dying too soon. However, recently, a miracle happened...
Brandon was given the opportunity to speak at a hospital event that changed his perspective and his life. Not knowing what he would say beforehand, he feels God inspired him with messages of courage and love.
His message for those in attendance was that, "No one knows when they will die, not even those of us who seem we are on our deathbed or even those who are extremely healthy. Miracles happen every day.
"So, should we sit here and feel sorry for ourselves because we have cancer, only to find out that we live for a long time, or should we make the most of our time here on earth and start sharing our love and encouragement with others?
"I don't know about you, but when I am up talking to people and being happy, through the pain, I feel more alive and happy. But, when I lay in bed and keep to myself, I get depressed and feel more pain and sickness.
"Will you join me? Will you join me in being a miracle and an inspiration in someone else's life, even if we only live for a moment longer?"
After Brandon shared his message, the outpouring of gratitude from other cancer patients and doctors, was overwhelming, and Brandon felt more energy and excitement than he had in a while. He was inspired and motivated to live and do more. He realized at that moment that even though he dealt with pain and weakness daily, even though he is wheelchair-bound because of the nerve damage, and even though he has cancer, he felt better and feels he has a gift to share.
Since Brandon was young, his love for life and his energy shined in everything he did, and even though he is in pain and suffers from sickness, seizures, and is wheelchair-bound, it still does. But, this moment brought clarity for Brandon and his future, more than he has ever experienced, and he felt that maybe there's a reason for his cancer after all.
Brandon avoids asking for help. When I asked him if I could start this GoFundMe campaign for him, he seemed very anxious about it and didn't like the idea of "begging." However, after witnessing Brandon's transformation from healthy to the unhealthy state he is in now, I don't want to wait any longer to get him treatment so he can live, be there for his family, and help others with his inspiring messages.
Please help Brandon get the treatment he needs and provide his family some much needed assistance during this challenging time. The money coming from this campaign will be used to help pay for his cancer, immune system treatment, and living expenses.
It will also get Brandon much needed treatment for his nerve damage from a Calmare machine, which helps with pain control and the medication-resistant neuropathy that keeps him from walking. Getting Brandon on his feet will help improve his mental state and strengthen his immune system.
