On September 22nd, our lives changed in an instant. My father, Richard, was admitted to the hospital after developing sudden jaundice. Imaging revealed a mass in his pancreas that was pressing on his bile duct. Doctors placed a stent to relieve the blockage and sent him home with the possibility of cancer hanging over us.
Three weeks later, his first biopsy came back benign. We celebrated and thanked God for what we thought was answered prayer. But two weeks after that, doctors told us they were still concerned and recommended a second biopsy. We pushed for a referral to UVA to get clearer answers.
At UVA, a second biopsy was performed — and this time, we received the heartbreaking news:
Richard has Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma.
We are now navigating this one day at a time. Chemo will be the first step, with surgery to follow if he is a candidate. Through all of this, my father is staying strong, but the financial burden is already overwhelming. He has had multiple scans, a PET scan, MRIs, procedures, specialist appointments, and hospital stays — and many more are expected in the weeks and months ahead.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Medical bills have started coming in quickly, and my parents are doing everything they can to keep up. We are asking for help so my mom and dad can focus on his treatment and healing rather than the mounting costs.
Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping Richard in your prayers. We truly believe in the power of prayer and community, and we are so grateful for every person walking alongside us during this difficult time.
Thank You
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support, your shares, and your prayers. It means more to our family than we can ever express.
