Heidi's Medical Fund

As some of y'all know, my mom was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. On Mother's Day, she was experiencing chest pains at work and called me to bring her to the emergency room. After receiving a chest x-ray and a CT scan, they discovered a large mass that is roughly 12 cm in her right lung. They conducted a bronchoscopy of the mass, and confirmed that it was non-small cell lung cancer. Due to the size and location of the mass, which is blocking her right bronchus and almost entirely blocking air from entering her right lung, surgery is not an option. They know from the size and involvement of the lymph nodes, it is likely at least Stage III, therefore she needs to begin treatment immediately.

She is completely unable to work. Although she is in the process of applying for disability, she has not been approved for any form of assistance. She was approved to begin receiving medical assistance from the Shivers Center at University Medical Center Brackenridge, and she has her first appointment this week. However, she is in desparate need of financial assistance for her living expenses, such as medications, copays for doctor's visits and chemotherapy treatments, and bills.

My mom is my best friend. Those who know her can attest to her kindness and sincerity. I'm determined to do whatever it takes to help her through this process, but I can't do it alone. Anything helps. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
