VVR Wild Fire Relief
Donation protected
My name is Dave Christian, my Daughter and I were hiking the JMT this year 2020, on our scheduled resupply/zero day when the Creek fire exploded. We were stuck at VVR with numerous other hikers and campers. I have never experienced such kindness and sense of community. Without speaking for them, i'm sure everyone who was there feels the same.
The recent California wildfires, specifically the "Creek Fire" that has compounded on the already poor season related to extremely low water levels at Lake Edison and Covid-19 has greatly impacted VVR and its wonderful owners and employees.
Anyone who has thru-hiked the PCT or the JMT along with anyone who has visited Lake Edison knows that Jim and Vicki at VVR are the most welcoming, kind and hospitable people you can imagine.
For those of us who were fortunate enough to be "trapped" at VVR and Eventually rescued by Helicopter are extremely lucky that Jim, Vicki and crew are there.
Many of the hikers and campers who were there when the initial evacuation orders came out left without paying there tabs.(not intentionally im sure) For the next several days, Jim and Vicki fed EVERYONE breakfast, lunch and dinner at no cost to anyone
These folks at VVR have been there for the hiker community through thick and thin for many years. It is my sincerest hope that they can remain for many years to come. The trail would certainly not be the same if Jim and Vicki were not there for us!
It is time for all of us who have visited and relied on VVR for our zero days and resupplies over these many years to pay back the kindness that has been shown us....time after time!
We can certainly all give a little to help relieve a small part of the hardship that they are experiencing!
Please forward the fundraising effort to all of your hiker/backpacker friends! Lets get the word out!
All funds will go directly to Jim and Vicki and VVR to help offset the losses and costs associated with the Creek fire and drought shortened season.
