Roof repair and Heater replacement

Donation protected
My name is Bonnie Sherwood.  I owe my success as an interpreter of American Sign Language in large part to a particular Deaf woman and her family, people I have now loved for 40 years.  At age 91 she could use a little help right now and I would like to ask our family, friends, community and caring people to lend some support in one of a couple of ways.  But let me explain:

Bonnie Gough has been a leader in the Deaf Community in San Diego ever since I have known her.  She has spent her life in service, has taught American Sign Language to now famous research scientists, raised 5 wonderful children and has missed her man ever since he left this earth so many years ago.  Bonnie is no quitter.  She remains social and attends parties she is invited to and goes to the Deaf Senior Citizens Club meetings on Thursdays when health and transportation permit.

Derilyn is her faithful daughter who daily keeps her promise to her dying father to "look out for Mom."  Derilyn cooks and cleans and helps Bonnie with daily needs.  Without Derilyn, Bonnie would not be able to live on her own.

Bonnie and Derilyn live on a miniscule budget but rarely complain.  They budget carefully and are able, for the most part, to 'make do.'  In spite of financial challenges, they remain grateful for the home they have and the family and friends who look in on them and help in many ways.

No on anticipated the mobile home that houses Bonnie and Derilyn to need an expensive new roof.  And worse, no one expected the furnace/air conditioner to stop working on the very morning the thermometer registers 32 degrees outside?   This situation is what caused me to establish this account immediately.  There is no other source of heat, neither family nor friends alone can gather the funds required to make these repairs and as I write, Bonnie and Derilyn are inside tonight without heat at the end of December with freezing temps outside.

No one wants to be in a position to ask for help.  It seems to be a very difficult thing to do.  But, here’s the neat part.  They didn’t ask for help.  I just decided to do something so that I could help.   And I know there are lots of us out there who know this woman and her daughter who also would like to help.  In fact, I am amazed by the generosity of people who are strangers to many on GoFundMe who also want to help.  And how we could use your help now.

We need to raise $12,000 dollars as soon as possible for these women so they can pay to repair the roof and replace the HVAC system in their mobile home.  Their home is nice but the walls are metal and it is COLD inside right now.

As always, gifts from the heart (and the wallet) can be any amount.  Please donate what you can so we can get these repairs under way as soon as possible.  We want them both to wake up warm on Christmas morning.  If you are not in a position to donate, please re-post this campaign far and wide.

Many thanks in advance for your help with keeping these women warm.  Please post and repost this far and wide so that as many people as possible see this.  I will be forever grateful for each and every one of you who is able to do something.

Blessings around to you all during this holiday season.  May a peaceful, prosperous and healthy New Year greet you all.
