Get Mom Back to the States
Donation protected
Hello friends and family,
My sisters and brothers are starting this GoFundMe page for our beautiful mother, Valerie Pilgrim. It's with great sadness in our hearts to inform you that our mother is in grave condition fighting for her life.
Our mother has numerous medical issues. Recently, she suffered a stroke on the island of Grenada. The best chance our mother has of surviving is to be flown back to the United States.
Unfortunately, the hospital (Grenada General Hospital) where she is currently resting, does not have the medical resources to support her.
For example, she needs surgery that they cannot perform, which involves removing water that is surrounding her heart. Also, the hospital has minimal physical therapy, does not have speech therapy, nor does it have the vital-signs monitoring systems. They also do not have any out-patient programs. Finally, they are struggling to get her diabetes under control in which she is not getting proper blood circulation to her feet.
The best chance she has of surviving is to be flown back to the United States. Grenada is currently not opened for commercial flights due to the Covid-19 and is projected to open June 30th, 2020. Even If they were, my mother would still not be able to fly without a medical escort. This is without a doubt, a time-sensitive life or death situation.
This is how your generous funds will help us:
The money will be used to fund "Air Ambulance Worldwide" (https://www.airambulanceworldwide.com), which will leave from Tampa, Florida to St Georges', Grenada, and then Grenada to Miami, Florida. Miami is the first port to enter the United States. Total cost is approximately $26,000 which includes the following services:
Bed-to-bed medical transfer
An RN/PM medical team selected to care for my mother's specific needs
An ICU equipped aircraft, flight crew, which including landing fees
Ground transportation on each end of the transfer
Full coordination between all agencies and facilities including status updates as the transfer progresses
Flight time: 3 hours and 30 minutes, Nonstop
When reaching Miami, my mother will be entered into a facility that can provide her with a chance to live.
This is time-sensitive and would love to get her back to the United States ASAP. Any funds that you can give will be greatly appreciated. Every penny counts. Please feel free to share.
If you cannot support us financially, please keep our mother in your prayers.
Thank you and God bless you.
