Starting Over After Devastating House Fire

My name is Paige Mills. This go fund me request is to raise funds for my little sister, Jessica Peck, her fiancé Atom Martin, their 6 children, and Atom’s mother, Teresa Martin.

On Tuesday, April 29th, my little sister, Jessica Peck, woke up to her home engulfed in flames. Her fiancé, Atom, their 6 children, and his mother were all inside. Miraculously, she and Atom were able to get everyone out of the house. The kids and their grandmother escaped with minor injuries and are currently staying with our dad and Jessica’s mom in northern AZ. However, Jessica and Atom were flown to the Valley and remain in the ICU. 

This has been a very scary and traumatizing experience for everyone involved. The kids have nightmares and have not been able to see their parents. 

I have been at the hospital every possible moment. In the beginning, both Jessica and Atom were in comas, attached to life-supporting machines to ensure they would breathe. At this juncture, Jessica is awake, though she can not speak and still has tubes and lines attached to her to assist her breathing. She has not been able to see Atom. 

Atom remains in a coma and had to be transported to another ICU yesterday due to worsening lung and oxygen saturation conditions. At this moment, I am unsure of his status and continue to ask everyone to pray. 

I am beyond grateful that everyone is alive and, for the most part, safe. I am also grateful to our parents for taking on the responsibility of 6 beautiful children and Atom’s mother. Our parents are doing everything they can to provide some kind of stability to this horrific roller coaster of a situation. These children have lost the only home they have known. They have been uprooted from their schools, friends, and lives, and they have not been able to see their parents yet. 

I am reaching out to ask for help in this tragic and life-changing situation. I have no idea how long my sister and her fiancé will remain in the hospital, nor how long they will need to continue their recoveries after they get out. They have a long road ahead, and right now they need all the support they can get. Everything is gone, and the family will have to start completely over.
