Save our ocean

This year, my aim is to try and run 12 half marathons and aspire to complete The London Classics, with the pinnacle being the London Marathon in April.

Throughout my journey I’ll be supporting a charity close to my heart which passionately works towards creating a better world - one dedicated to safeguarding marine conservation and preserving the health of our precious ocean.

The charity I am supporting is Surfers Against Sewage - a marine conservation charity devoted to the ocean. Set up in 1990 by a group of Cornish surfers, this charity has expanded to tackle the 4 biggest problems our ocean faces: plastic pollution, sewage pollution, ocean recovery and climate change.

This is a charity I’ve worked with for a while; I’ve been able to bring a slice of Cornwall to the sands of Margate, taking the boys from school on an annual beach clean. Protecting the ocean is paramount, as its health sustains life on Earth, and safeguarding its delicate balance ensures a legacy of beauty and biodiversity.

SAS recognise and try to educate everyone on the complete dependence humans have on the ocean. Its recovery is not something that only those who love the water should care about, but is in everyone’s best interest, as without the ocean, there would be no life.

The ocean is a life-support system for the entire global population and the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems will be felt across every element of society, from tourism and trade to health and wellbeing.”
