Together for Shiloh: A Campaign for a Service Dog
Donation protected
In October of 2023, Patrick and I had one of the most surreal and scary moments of our lives as we watched Shiloh have her first series of seizures. She was outside in our backyard and her friends came to the door in a state of panic, and over the next few minutes Shiloh slowly slipped into full blown convulsions and out of consciousness. We called 911 not knowing what was happening or if she was going to come back to us, and as we arrived at the hospital she had another seizure. We stayed in the hospital ICU for multiple days and were given the choice to see what happened from there or start her on seizure prevention meds. We decided to wait it out, but that was cut short as she had another seizure just a few days after we got home. Since then, our lives have been turned upside down and we have begun a new life as a family within the Epilepsy community.
Shiloh has been one of the toughest most courageous kids during this time. She is learning how to live with a disease that looks invisible to most. She has a dream to start a YouTube channel to help other kids who may have been experiencing similar types of diagnoses. She has the most kind heart and beautiful mind.
As we haven't been able to get her medication to control the seizures, they are continuing to happen. We are told this can be a long standing, if not a never ending, process. Her doctors have recommended that a service dog would be a great idea for us to get for her, and after research we found 4Paws for Ability. 4 Paws for Ability is a non-profit organization that breeds, raises, trains, and places service dogs with children and veterans who have disabilities.
We are now completely approved for a dog for Shiloh, but we have to raise the funds to bring the dog home. It can take up to 2-2.5 years of training before we can bring it home, but we are excited and ready to get this process in full swing!
We are very humbly asking for our community, friends, and family to jump in and help in whatever way or capacity you are able. We are so grateful for each and every one of you and the help through donation or through your prayers. All funds we raise will go to getting the dog trained and into our home, plus any expenses for this process (i.e. flying to the center to be trained in commands, seizure detection, etc)
