Life sucks. Please help me get better.
I have put off making this gofundme for the duration of my illness thus far because I just assumed that my health would improve, and that I could just ride this out with my savings account because I didn’t want to worry any friends or family. 10 months later and my health has gotten exponentially worse, and I have been unable to work for a total of 5+ months.
I have been sick with reactivated Epstein Barr virus that had been destroying me since I moved to California, but I wasn’t letting that stop me from living with full time work plus lots of sunshine. Usually EBV would heal itself after a month or less. Months had passed and I was not getting better, so my doctor continuously tried many different treatments and ordered many different labs/ blood tests to be done to look for any underlying conditions. About 6 months into seeing my doctor and not showing improvements, we discovered that my house had water damage that wasn’t properly taken care of, and a back yard riddled with mold directly behind our window ac unit and box fans. Over $1,000 later in mold tests, (We had 3 forms of mold tests conducted-bloodwork, a swab kit, and an air quality test) and sure enough, our house is infested with mold that is not even visible to the human eye.
WHO GETS MOLD POISONING? The toxic mold has been poisoning my body and wreaking havoc on my already very weakened immune system that has been non-stop battling the Epstein Barr Virus. My symptoms from the mold poisoning on top of the Epstein Barr Virus have put me at a point to where I cannot work until further notice, on top of the months that I have already missed. I have not even received information about an estimated date as to when I will even begin to feel better. Usually I am stuck in bed. The neurological symptoms have been the most detrimental. Most days in public places I am unable to walk without feeling dizzy/ faint. I usually have to hold on to a cart or a person to get around. I have fallen over. I experience confusion/ memory loss frequently. I cant drive. I experience major adrenal fatigue, chronically swollen lymph nodes, and now my body is showing intolerances to many foods/ natural sugars, among many other symptoms.
I still have plenty more tests to be done at the doctors office and hospital before we see progress and can pinpoint just how extensive the damage is to my body. In the mean time I still have to pay bills. I have to leave my current home. Rent, car insurance, utilities, medical bills, doctors visits, blood work, groceries, treatments, etc. All while still not being able to work. I have even applied to many work from home jobs with no luck, and I have applied to receive short term disability. Unfortunately, I do not qualify for Short Term Disability because I haven’t lived in California for one entire year yet. (That shouldn’t even be a stipulation right??) The federal government doesn’t give a shit about sick people. The state doesn’t give a shit about sick people. I just want to be healthy and make cakes and take my dog on the longest walks again.
