My name is Larry and my home was set on fire last night, June 2nd, while two of my children, one of whom is a disabled Army veteran, along with my son who still struggles from a violent hit and run and my grandchildren (16F, 14M, 10M, 9F, 5 month old F). My oldest granddaughter (16F) noticed a fire in the backyard and had the wherewithal to warn everyone else so that everyone made it out of the home safely. Our family dog was burned and saved by a child who risked his own safety trying to alert my family and save the dog. The roof of the home was burned, along with the backyard and part of the home. Inside, there is also damage that will need to be repaired. Due to this damage, the home is uninhabitable. Unfortunately, we don’t have homeowners insurance and as a 72-year-old widower, I am hoping that the community can assist in getting the necessary repairs done from roof repair to electrical wiring so that I can live in the house again. This home has been in my family for generations and is where my parents moved when they settled in California after migrating from Mississippi.
