the Koeneman Family house fire fund

Donation protected

On Thursday morning, my parents,  Scott and Nancy Koeneman's , house caught fire. We are still unsure of the cause. We know it started in the kitchen, and that it spread fast. We know that the fire department was called by a delivery man only ten minutes after my mom left the house.

Here's the news article about what happened, there's video too, thanks to the News-Gazette .

Both my Dad and Mom weren't home at the time, and are just fine, but our wonderful dogs, Sarge and Epi, were trapped in my parents bedroom by the flames, and perished from smoke inhalation. They found them huddled together in the bathroom.

We are terribly saddened by the loss of our pets, but are also faced with the loss of their home and much of our belongings. At this point, it's impossible to know how much can be salvaged, but most everything was touched by the flames or the smoke, or as my Mom described her dresser, just "cooked".  We don't have many photos of the home, it's been boarded up by the fire department, but the picture at the top and the one below are just the entrance to the house, and as I said before, the fire started in the kitchen. My parents have insurance, but it isn't going to be enough, and all I want for for them is to find a semblance of the normal they had before all this happened. I'm up here in Chicago for college, while they are staying in a hotel, doing all the business that is left with you after a loss like this. They are facing this whole thing with such strength and endurance. I offered to come home, take time off of my summer classes to be there for them and to do what I can, and they told me no, focus on school.

I don't know if you know my parents, but they are amazing people. I could try and describe how generous, caring, and genuinely fun people they are, but that would require a whole book of writing. They didn't deserve this, so I'm here online, asking you for help. Please donate whatever you can. They and I will be eternally greatful.
