VUHS Class of 2021 Walkathon

Tax deductible
Hello ANWSD Community,

For 13 years, the VUHS senior class has continued the tradition of “Walking for a Cause” with the organization selected by students. The annual senior walkathon typically consists of raising funds and awareness by collecting donations and walking. The senior class chose “Giving Thanks to our Elders” as the theme for our walk to Ferrisburgh Central School on Wednesday, November 18th.

A few weeks back, students were surveyed on possible organizations to support. The class voted to walk for the Champlain Valley Alzheimer’s Association. However, with the current circumstances of COVID-19, the class also felt an obligation to extend support to the needy elders in our community. To incorporate both Alzheimer’s research and support our struggling elderly population, our class has taken a slightly different approach to the walkathon.

This year, with an understanding that cash donations may prove challenging, the class of 2021 will also be collecting food donations for a local food bank. With the walk taking place so close to Thanksgiving, we will also be purchasing turkeys for the John Graham Shelter and a few Elderly Care facilities in Vergennes. Donors will have the choice to contribute either through cash donations to support the Alzheimer’s Association or non-perishable donations for a local food bank.

For any questions, please feel free to contact any of the senior class officers.

Thank you,
