Helping Hollie ♥️

Hello to all!
This idea has been one in the works for a while and is long overdue.
First I would like to share a little background about my mother.
Hollie was diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma and was being followed by a local dermatologist for years when we discovered the melanoma had appeared on her scalp and neck. Head and neck melanoma is a different ball game than cutaneous melanoma. This prompted her doctor to refer her to MD Anderson for a lymph node biopsy to check for metastasis. The biopsy revealed the cancer had in fact spread to her lymphatic system and after jumping through many hoops due to financial/insurance issues she began IV treatment every 2 weeks locally. In the same month she had to dissolve her company she co-owned for 18 years due to the death of her business partner and family member. She has been relentless in her search for work ever since. As if this wasn’t enough,  in June of this year she began bleeding from her mouth  and after further testing it was determined she had oral melanoma. Oral melanoma is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer and has been determined to be completely separate from her cutaneous melanoma. October 4th she will undergo an extensive 8 hour surgery to widen the margins around the melanoma in her mouth that will involve removing a portion of her pallet and surgically reconstructing the area using vessels from her leg. This will require a minimum of a week inpatient at MD Anderson and a feeding tube for roughly two weeks. After Surgery she will resume IV treatment every two weeks which is a medication that is roughly $1500 out of pocket and there’s a discussion of possible radiation to the area in her mouth. Insurance does not cover housing in Texas and all of her trips to Texas thus far have been out of pocket. After attending one visit with her at MD Anderson I knew I had to do something. I watched as each receptionist asked for a $40 copay. She was asked three times that day for a total of $120. That was not even considering the hotel cost. She has made multiples visits like this over the last few months and her journey is just beginning.
My mom is the most deserving woman on the planet and I would do ANYTHING in the world to help her. Please help me to help her through this incredibly rough time. She is being so brave and courageous despite her world constantly flipping upside down. My hope is to lessen the financial burden so that she can focus on what’s important, fighting to live and see many more years with her family.
Thanks for your time ♥️
