Hi everyone! I’m Piper as most of you know! I am a 4 year old Australian Retreiver. I am a comfort dog at Goble Funeral Home in Sparta, NJ where my mom is a funeral director. I work full time, 40 hours a week and my job is to lick, love and comfort as many families as possible! My mom always jokes with her manager and says “we need to get her on the payroll” and I’d always get really excited when she said that because I thought she was saying “we need to get her a bagel.” Either way, I love my job and the way I make people feel. I can’t wait to get back to work!
I have unfortunately been through a lot the past 2 months (I like to eat weird things) and have been hospitalized a total of 14 days in the last 6 weeks. I know I’m not supposed to eat foreign objects but sometimes I can’t help it! I had eaten massive amounts of cat litter that enlarged my digestive tract, spleen, intestines, and colon. I also had Lyme’s Disease and Anaplasmosis that required 3 months of antibiotics. And then my brother Cathew got sick as well with crystals in his bladder. Shortly after I was back home with mom and dad, I had the opportunity to feast on some ribs in the middle of the night. Little did I know how upset my stomach was going to get. In a short amount of time, I had a fever over 105.2, fluid and blood in my stomach, peritonitis, a massive amount of internal damage, and permanent damage to my intestines. Thankfully my friends at Rockaway Animal Hospital took the absolute best care of me and I avoided surgery, BOTH TIMES!
With me not being on the payroll and mom and dad spending thousands of dollars in the last few weeks on us, they unfortunately could use your help. Our sicknesses and medical bills have put a lot of stress on them and I’m courageously asking for your help. Any little bit will help us get back on our feet again. I promise to be on my best behavior because I know my parents love and need me. Thank you for praying for me and being there for my family. We can’t thank everyone enough for all you have done the last few weeks. Your friendships and love are greatly appreciated and we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
