On March 18, 2024, Michael Bowen's life took an unexpected turn when he experienced an anaphylactic allergic reaction that saved his life. Michael was ending his shift as a chaplain intern at Audubon Norton Hospital when he ate a handful of trail mix quickly followed by dizziness, swelling, and a racing heart. This reaction put him into Atrial fibrillation (AFib). We are so thankful for this course of events; we praise God for his hospitalization because the following tests and medical collaboration brought a greater need to light. Michael was born with only three valves in his heart, and one of those valves is wide open. His need for reconstructive cardiovascular surgery is urgent to prevent stroke or aneurysm. Not having surgery would be catastrophic. Thus far, Michael has had to take his remaining PTO and vacation days for his most recent hospital stay. Going forward, they predict his surgery will result in another week in the hospital and up to 12 weeks of recovery at home.
Who is Michael? Michael and his family moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky three years ago to help plant a church and to share the good news and love of Jesus in Hardin County. He serves as a chaplain intern at Norton Hospital and works at Amazon at night. They live their lives leading others to follow Jesus and are so grateful to be a witness to the miracle that God is performing.
Be part of that miracle and come alongside Michael and Michelle by supporting them in prayer and finances over the next couple of months as they trek the journey the Lord has laid out for them.
