I'm sure that, like many others, you have experienced hard times. My family and I have had a rough few years. My family is myself, my fiancée, our son, my sister, and my mom. Unfortunately, my 80-year-old mother had to be put in a group home because we couldn't care for her ourselves anymore, not in the way she needs or deserves. It takes all of her SS money and some of ours to keep her there. It even cost all my disability back pay just to get her set up there. My older sister and I are both disabled. My sister is 59. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia more than a decade ago, and she is almost bedridden now. I was diagnosed with RR Multiple Sclerosis and fibromyalgia back in 2020/2021. I waited more than 10 years to get my diagnosis and dealt with disability most of that time. Based on my disease progression and severity, it started around age 18. I am 46 now. Medicaid covers most of my medical needs, but MS is a very expensive disease to have. My mobility is getting worse, and I will need more mobility aids in the future. Trying to stick to a specific diet while limited in food spending is next to impossible, and some of the medicine isn't covered (mostly vitamins and such that are way too expensive).
My fiancée has been amazing and works very hard to bring in money, but her current job is only two days a week. She is actively looking for work, but it is very hard to find anything at the moment. My 7-year-old son is a beautiful, kind little soul who is also experiencing the stress that comes with all these medical and financial issues.
We have tried to do everything right. We pay our bills as best we can, but our savings dried up, and we don't have anything else to sell. We have even begged friends and family for help (we are unbelievably grateful to all those that helped us get through the last two months). Now we have more bills and costs than we can pay. Our rent is $2000 a month. We also pay for our electricity, which can be pretty high given we live in Las Vegas and need air conditioning to survive. We have a storage unit that is currently past due that has my whole life in it, even all my father's things he left me and my sister after he passed away in 2017. (I was his caregiver for more than 10 years before he died as well.) We need to pay the $300ish we owe Storage very soon, or we could lose all of our memories.
Ideally, we are hoping to save enough money to move someplace with better medical care, weather, jobs, and cheaper housing. And to move anywhere, even within Las Vegas, is expensive, especially because we would need movers because of my disability and lack of support systems where we live.
We had planned on using my disability back pay to move and set us up somewhere cheaper and more comfortable, but as I mentioned earlier, that money got used up to make sure my mother was cared for.
I really hate asking people to donate their money when so many people are struggling like we are. Unfortunately, my family and I are in desperate need of help. So, please, donate if you can. And please share this so as many eyes can see it as possible.
We appreciate everything and anything that you can do.
Thank you and God bless.
